How do I apply for a place in nursery and/or school?
Nursery:
Complete a nursery registration form (available on this website or from the school) and return to the school office. This will ensure that you are included on the database for nursery applications. Please follow this link for a copy of 'Starting Nursery 2014/15 A Parent's Guide': http://www.richmond.gov.uk/richmond_nursery_guide.pdf
What are the application deadlines and when will I hear the result of my application?
Nursery: for September 2014 entry, the deadline for applications to be submitted was Fri 10 January 2014. Places are allocated using the criteria defined by Richmond Local Authority (see below). Offers will be made on Fri 28 March 2014.
School: Most applications are made on-line to the admissions website. Alternatively, forms can be collected from school or from the School Admissions Section at the Civic Centre in Twickenham.
01 Sep 2013 – line opened for on-line applications www.eadmissions.org.uk
15 Jan 2014 – closing date for on-line applications or paper forms to be received by Local Authority
16 April 2014 – results posted by 1st class post or email
When can I put my child’s name on the list for nursery or school?
As soon as your child is 2 years old you can make an informal registration at school. Registration forms are available from the school office and one form can be completed for both nursery and school. Alternatively click here to download the latest registration form.
Can I visit the school before registering my child?
Parents are welcome to visit and see the school at work and the facilities we have to offer. Dates of open mornings are detailed on the calendar page. Please telephone the school to make an appointment.
Can I register at more than one school?
At this stage you can informally register at several schools for places in the reception year group.
What happens if I don’t register as soon as my child is 2 years?
Registrations are not dealt with on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Any registration received by the closing date (see below) will be included on the list and dealt with according to the published admission criteria.
Do Nursery children automatically get a place in a Reception class?
Children in Nursery do not have a priority place in school. See the admission criteria (below).
What happens if the nursery is oversubscribed?
The Nursery is usually oversubscribed. Offers will be made to the first 78 children initially. If spaces become available due to refusals or non-replies, the next child on the list will be offered that space. Unsuccessful applicants will not receive a letter as spaces may become available at any time leading up to the point of admission in September.
Can I choose a morning or afternoon place in nursery for my child?
You should state your preference on the application form. As morning sessions are usually more popular, you will be asked to give your reasons for this request and we will attempt to offer you your preferred session. If the demand is high, it may not be possible to offer you your choice.
Is the admission process the same for nursery and school?
Places in the nursery and school are allocated according to the Local Authority’s admission criteria. These are available on the website www.richmond.gov.uk
