Who are we?

Well I guess the name rather gives it away. We are a group of dads and carers who meet on a regular basis and have children from across the school years. We aim to both get involved with and organise a range of events, with the express purpose of linking up with others and supporting the school.

What do we do?

We organise social events by ourselves, as well as getting involved with those run by the Friends of Stanley Primary (FOSP) and the school itself.

We already have a number of activities but are always keen to hear about new ideas from those who come along. At present we cover the physical, intellectual and just plain social.

Physical - we organise a friendly football five-a-side on a fortnightly basis at the school. We also arrange games against parents from other schools in the area. Ability is mixed (to say the least!) so all are welcome whether you still play regularly or haven’t pulled on your boots/trainers for some time.

Intellectual – on second thoughts, the word intellectual might be stretching it a bit but we do regularly take part in the Monday night quiz at the Old Goat. We have managed to win it on a few occasions now.

Social – if you’re not interested in stretching yourself, then we do meet up regularly for a get together. Every couple of months or so we take the opportunity to meet up as a group. In addition, we set aside some time to discuss what new activities at the school we’d like to get involved with.

Help – as a group we have supplied help to a number of the FOSP events including last year’s Christmas tree sale and Christmas Fair, and this year’s Summer Fair. From a school perspective many us of go along to the Bring a Man to School days.
