You've probably already noticed the stunning new climbing wall in our playground. The mural was painted by Max Ellis, who kindly donated all his time completely free of charge. The Friends of Stanley Primary paid for the materials, including paint and new foot and hand holds. Jerram Falkus donated the decking for the area. Whilst he painted the wall, Max filmed his progress and has now made it into a very entertaining 2-minute video. Please click on the link below to watch!
Stanleytross the plastic albatross and fourteen lucky pupils from Stanley Primary School travelled to Parliament on Wednesday 4 September 2013 with EcoTales and Zac Goldsmith, MP for Richmond Park and North Kingston. The day started with a rally outside the Houses of Parliament, where Stanleytross was proudly displayed! The Stanley pupils read 'Dear Albatross', which highlights the dangers of plastic pollution to marine life. Everyone then walked to 10 Downing Street and presented David Cameron with a copy of the poem and a letter about introducing a ban on single-use plastic bags. Mr Cameron said “It has been very successful in Wales and we are looking again at the options here. You have come at the right time as we are just discussing it". Mr Cameron said that he had noticed Stanleytross as he left the Commons! It was a fantastic and memorable day for all.
Stanleytross will be visiting the Thames festival on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September 2013. Please visit www.ecotales.co.uk for further information and photographs of this amazing event.
